ECOTECH International Exhibition and Forum held in Moscow on 12–14 December featured an awards ceremony for winners of the best environmental project contest.

Pupils from the Girls’ Boarding School of the Ministry of Defence have taken an active part in awareness-raising and educational projects in the Year of Ecology. For a year, school clubs held lessons teaching pupils about Russia’s nature and ways to protect it. Similar projects were submitted to the contest by pupils from other educational institutions.

The project spanned the whole of Russia: many cadets and boarding school pupils developed projects based on data from their home regions. Projects admitted to the contest finals were presented before the start of ECOTECH International Exhibition and Forum at a special School Session featured at the event. Influential experts assessed the young researchers’ presentations and selected the best of the best.

Dmitry Belanovich, Director of the Department for State Policies and Environmental Regulations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, presented awards to the winners.

“Dear Friends and Colleagues! I am addressing you as my colleagues, and this is no exaggeration. You have conducted your research and created your environmental projects with great enthusiasm and at a quite high level. There are those among you who are truly concerned about the environment and have been studying environmental protection for a long time. Maybe, a few years from now, we will see some of you among the ranks of professional environmentalists. That would be a very joyous development”, Mr. Belanovich said in his speech.

All the winners were awarded diplomas of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia.

These are the authors of the best environmental projects at the School Session at ECOTECH International Exhibition and Forum:

  • Ivan Malkov and Vyacheslav Matveyev’s project won in the “Shaping Environmental Culture” category for pupils of classes 6–8
